10. It is clear who are the children of God and who are the children of the devil by this—anyone who does not act righteously or love his brother is not of God.
11. For this is the message you have heard from the beginning—we should love one another.
12. Do not be like Cain, who was from the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his deeds were evil, while his brother’s were righteous.
13. Do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.
14. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers and sisters. The one who does not love remains in death.
15. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer—and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
16. We have come to know love by this—Yeshua laid down His life for us, and we also ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
17. But if someone has material possessions and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
